What’s the Driver Knowledge Test?

In Alberta, the Class 7 driver knowledge test — also called the written test or driving theory test — demonstrates you understand traffic regulations well enough to get a learner’s licence to prepare for the road test. It consists of 30 multiple-choice questions covering driving laws, safe driving practices and road signs. A passing score is 25 out of 30.

If your English isn’t strong, the Class 7 test is available in 25 languages, including French, Ukrainian and Arabic.

When to Take the Knowledge Test

Registry @ South Trail Crossing Ltd. administers the Class 7 driver knowledge test six days a week, from Monday to Friday from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM and Saturdays from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
